RECOVERY | ACCOUNTABILITY | DISCIPLESHIP
There is nothing greater than grace.
This has become the slogan for The Mission for the past several years, and it sums up the message that our staff and volunteers want to spread and portray to anyone who walks through the doors.
The Mission began in 2011 as a weekly meal and meeting for those struggling with addictions or navigating recovery from drugs or alcohol. It slowly grew into a support group with a more broad focus, attempting to provide support for anyone who was facing a hardship in their life, whether that be in the form of various addictions, divorce, death of a loved one, anger or bitterness over past hurts, or any of life's other struggles. The weekly meetings are based on God's Word, and while the messages are crafted to apply to those who are actively seeking recovery, they are also applicable to anyone else who may walk through the door, no matter their position in life's journey or in their walk with Christ.
The focus of The Mission has always been to assist the folks in Sneedville and Hancock County in any way possible. This has been done through many different outreach projects throughout the years, but currently the two largest ministries are the weekly Mission Meetings on Thursday and the new pregnancy ministry, which officially opened in the spring of 2019 to serve ladies who are facing unplanned or unsupported pregnancies, as well as those who are parents or guardians of small children and may be in need of material support.
The primary goal of The Mission is to encourage those in the community to seek a more personal and eternal relationship with Christ. It is only by Him that we are truly healed of our hurts or addictions, and it is only through Him that we come to the Father for eternal salvation.
